How to Listen Step 4: Don’t Judge
How to Listen Step 5: Don’t assume
How to Listen Step 6: Don’t jump in with an answer
How to Listen Step 7: Reflect on what has been said
How to Listen Step 8: Summarise what has been said
How to Listen Step 9: Seek clarification
How to Listen Step 10: Take time to think about what has been said.

Try to follow the following pattern for listening.

Listen – Reflect – Respond – Repeat

We have two ears and one mouth so listen twice as much as you speak.
